As I’ve grown older, I’ve found that my views and values have altered. From a pursuit of success despite personal reflection, I found myself trapped, trapped in an endless loop, a swallowing pit that enveloped my thoughts and poisoned my motivation. From these times I found meaning, meaning not in the comforts of my own self-detained bonds, but beyond that. Meaning in a rawer art form, in objectivity.
I’ve felt the swelling in my chest, the touch of pride in success. I’ve seen the effects that have come from art as an expression, and I have seen the lasting impacts that it has had, even when the vestiges of its outline are long gone. I create not in the hopes of tracing its shape, but in making my own, slightly dented, fraying patchwork. - Max Boyang |
