After a week of break, boys started painting again.
Max quickly started the buck piece. He is almost done with it. He also started an acrylic abstract landscape piece.
A friend of ours cut some tree peony from her tree. She put it with snowball bushes and other leaves together to create a beautiful bouquet for Louis to paint. Louis wanted bees to come to the flowers, so he sit outside working on it on Sunday.
We attended " Blooms, Bugs and Beasts" exhibition reception at The Scarab Club last weekend. We had a great time. Met a lot of cool people. We knew the competition was tough, though still were very surprised to find out that there were only 37 pieces out of 600 submissions got selected for this exhibit and Max's " Bee Careful" is one of them. So proud of Max!
East Lansing Art Festival was a lot of fun! What made it even more amazing this year is that we met some very talented artists. Phil Schmidt's watercolor planes are so fantastic that the boys can't stop talking about it on the way home. Terry Walsh's landscape paintings are unbelievably realistic and beautiful. A lot of people thought they were pictures.
We decided to bring home a sculpture from Skeeter Aschinger. It is a very fun piece.
We were so happy to bump into Dawn Parker, the amazing reporter from Lansing State Journal, who was responsible for bringing so many people to the twins' Art show.
After spending 4 hours at the festival, the boys finally got tired and wanted to go home.
We were so busy with the boys' solo art show that we haven't been able to update this blog for a while.
The show was a huge success! Hundreds of people came and a lot of peopled placed bids on the boys' artwork. We still don't have the final number yet, though we believe that Max and Louis will be able to donate a few thousand dollars to Joey's Wings Childhood Cancer Foundation. We are very proud of the boys!
The story of the boys was on the headline of Lansing State Journal. WLNS-TV also came to report it. It was so much fun.
Max is continuing with his watercolor wash experiment. He wants to add more dark color to this beetle piece.
He is also working on the background of this new bee collage.
Mom got some sunflowers from Whole Food yesterday. When Louis saw the flowers, he asked mom to get him more. Mom had to go back to the store for it.
Though it all worth it. Louis kept working on this piece last night and he went to work right away when he woke up this morning. :-)
